Hardscaping can absolutely impact drainage and grading—but when done right, it can actually improve both. Any time we add a patio, walkway, retaining wall, or other hardscape feature, we’re changing how water moves across your yard. Since these surfaces don’t absorb water like soil does, we have to be intentional about how we shape the land and where we direct runoff.
That’s why proper grading is one of the first things we address in any hardscape project. We make sure everything slopes away from your home and into designated drainage areas. In some cases, we’ll install solutions like French drains or catch basins to help manage water even more effectively. When hardscaping is thoughtfully designed and installed, it not only looks great—it protects your property from water issues in the long run.
